Little Darlings Childcare Centre has a proud history that began in 2003 when sisters Marika Gouveros and Poppy Stamateris brought to life their dream of creating a nurturing, safe, and inspiring space for children. With their training in early childhood education and teaching, combined with Poppy’s business expertise, they established the first Little Darlings Childcare Centre, built on the values of care, respect, education, and an extension of the home.

Their vision was very much a family effort. Their father, Steve, was instrumental in finding the right properties and lovingly assisting with renovations to ensure the centres felt warm, colourful, and homely. Their mother, Mary, took on the role of Head Chef, preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals each day, just as she did in their own family home. Together, with Marika and Poppy leading the way, they built not just childcare centres, but welcoming environments where children could thrive, and families could feel supported.

Over time, this dedication and passion led to the creation of multiple centres, each one maintaining the same high standard of care, strong community connection, and family-focused approach that made Little Darlings so trusted and respected.

We are honoured to carry forward the legacy built by Marika, Poppy, and their family. We deeply respect the foundations they laid and are committed to continuing the philosophy that children come first. While cherishing this history, we also bring our own experience, passion, and vision to ensure that Little Darlings continues to evolve, providing high-quality education and care that meets the needs of today’s families.

This new chapter will build on the values and success created by Marika, Poppy, Steve, and Mary, while ensuring that the centres remain safe, engaging, and nurturing places where children and families feel welcomed and supported.
